Dining table seating options
Our traditional farmhouse tables and trestle tables are designed to work with different seating arrangements; whether that’s a table and chairs, a table and benches, or a table with a combination of chairs and benches.
Dining table and chairs
Dining chairs come in a variety of styles from traditional farmhouse like the Spindle back chair, to contemporary wooden chairs such as The ‘Seville’. Farmhouse dining chairs can be painted in a variety of different colours to match the table, or in a variety of different colours to give a popular shabby chic feel to the set. Dining chair cushions are also available to fit most wooden dining chair models.
The following diagrams show the seating potential for traditional and trestle tables with chairs based on the dining table size.

Dining table and benches
Benches such as the reclaimed wood rustic bench can be painted or waxed in the finish of your choice to perfectly match the table. Removable bench cushions are also available as an optional extra, in a variety of different colour fabrics.
Benches for traditional style dining tables (such as The ‘Florence’ and The ‘Sunflower’) are 1ft shorter in length than the table so that the benches can be stored neatly under the table when not in use.
The diagrams below demonstrate a few different size traditional farmhouse tables with two benches to match.

Benches for trestle style tables (such as The ‘Industrial’ and The Cross Frame Trestle) are the same length as the table as the full length of bench can be stored underneath the table neatly due to the different positioning of the legs.
The diagrams below demonstrate a few different size trestle tables with two benches to match.

Dining table, chairs and benches
A combination of chairs and a bench is a popular option for farmhouse tables, giving the setup a rustic theme. Benches as dining table seating are a popular option for families as a bench can accommodate more small children in less room than if they each had a chair.
The diagrams below demonstrate a few different size tables with a combination of chairs and a bench to match.

Dining table extensions
Removable dining table extensions are available on all Country Life Furniture traditional style tables to enable additional seating potential when necessary. Dimensions are 25" long by the width of the table, except on 3ft tables where the length is 17" long for balance purposes.
Extensions are not available on trestle style tables due to the nature of the fixing.
On a standard width (3ft) table a single extension can accommodate an additional 2/3 seats as shown in the diagram below; with an extension on both sides the additional seating potential increases to an extra 4/6 seats.
Extra wide farmhouse tables (3.5ft) can accommodate two seats at each end of the table, which means that a single extension can boost seating potential by up to an additional 4 seats, whereas an extension at each end can boost seating potential by up to an additional 8 seats.
